Back in the late 1950’s, my grandfather started Ed Kovel’s Landscaping and Tree Service. In the winter, they provided snow and ice services. They serviced all types of customers including residential and commercial, but the majority of their contracts came from local Villages. Back then, many Villages did not have their own public works departments and they contracted out to private companies. My family worked tirelessly for the business and took a lot of pride in their work. Due to unforeseen economic issues in the early 1980’s coupled with many Villages creating their own public works departments, the business was no longer sustainable. This was truly a sad and difficult time in my family’s history.
To this day though, I still hear the stories about how my grandfather took care of his customers and his employees. He was truly respected for his work, and after his passing the town of Hodgkins named a park in his memory
. From the stories and all the memories his small business created; starting a business became a goal that I was destined to achieve. After saving enough for my first piece of equipment back in 2005, I started Elite Site Services.
Since then, Elite has become one of the premier snow and ice management providers in our service area. Great equipment, service, and communication continue to be Elite’s fundamentals to long-term success and growth. We always put our customers first, and I know my grandfather would be proud.
